Soft fruit candy manufacturers

When sourcing soft fruit candy, prioritize texture consistency, flavor profile, and ingredient transparency. High-quality products should use natural fruit concentrates or pulps rather than purely synthetic flavorings. The texture must be resilient yet easy to chew, avoiding excessive stickiness that indicates poor moisture control. Ensure the gelatin or pectin source is clearly identified to meet specific dietary requirements.

Food safety is paramount. Suppliers must hold HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and ISO 22000 certifications. For specific markets, look for FDA registration (USA), EFSA compliance (EU), and BRCGS (British Retail Consortium Global Standard). If targeting niche markets, verify Halal or Kosher certifications, as well as Vegan/Pectin-based options for plant-based consumers.

Request accelerated stability test reports from the manufacturer. The candy should have a stable shelf life of 12 to 24 months. Key technical factors include water activity (aw) levels below 0.6 to prevent microbial growth and the use of high-barrier packaging materials (such as aluminum foil or metalized PET) to protect against oxidation, moisture ingress, and UV light.

A capable supplier should offer custom mold creation for unique shapes, adjustable sugar content (e.g., sugar-free or stevia-sweetened), and functional additives like vitamins, probiotics, or collagen. Furthermore, private label packaging design services are essential for brand differentiation in the retail market.

The biggest risks are temperature-induced melting and customs rejection due to non-compliant additives. Always use temperature-controlled containers (Reefer) if shipping through tropical zones. Additionally, ensure all food dyes and preservatives are permitted in the destination country to avoid total cargo destruction by customs.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; typically, ordering in Full Container Loads (FCL) can reduce unit costs by 15-25% compared to LCL. For new brands, negotiate a lower MOQ for the first trial order by agreeing to use the supplier's existing stock molds while customizing only the outer packaging.

Utilize secure payment terms such as Letter of Credit (L/C) or third-party escrow services. Conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) through agencies like SGS or Intertek to verify net weight, piece count, and sensory attributes before the final balance is paid. For reliable sourcing, platforms like Made-in-China.com provide verified supplier profiles and audit reports.

Soft candy is sensitive to pressure and humidity. Ensure the outer cartons have a high crush-resistance rating (ECT) to prevent the bottom layers from being flattened. Request palletization with shrink-wrap to minimize handling damage and provide an extra layer of moisture protection during sea transit.
