Child candy manufacturers

Safety is the highest priority for child candy. You must ensure products comply with FDA (USA), EFSA (EU), or GB standards (China) depending on your target market. Key requirements include non-toxic food coloring (avoiding banned azo dyes), strict limits on heavy metals (Lead, Arsenic), and clear allergen labeling (peanuts, milk, soy). Always request HACCP or ISO 22000 certifications from the manufacturer to verify food safety management systems.

Current trends favor low-sugar or sugar-free options (using Xylitol or Stevia) and natural fruit extracts over synthetic flavors. For functional child candy, check for fortified vitamins (C, D) or DHA. Ensure the shelf life is at least 12-24 months and that the packaging provides a clear nutritional facts panel in the language of the destination country.

The size and shape of the candy must be designed to minimize choking risks. For hard candies, a diameter larger than 3cm or a hollow center is often preferred. For gummy candies, the texture must be easy to chew and dissolve, avoiding excessive elasticity that could block a child's airway. Individual wrapping is also recommended to maintain hygiene and control portion sizes.

Packaging must be food-grade (BPA-free) and moisture-proof to prevent spoilage. For B2B buyers, attractive, colorful designs are vital for retail, but you must also include choking hazard warnings for children under 3 years old. If the product includes a toy (e.g., surprise eggs), the toy must meet EN71 or ASTM F963 toy safety standards separately.

Candy is sensitive to temperature and humidity. For long-haul sea freight, especially through tropical zones, it is highly recommended to use Reefer Containers (Refrigerated Containers) maintained at 18-22°C. Ensure the supplier uses desiccants and double-walled corrugated master cartons to prevent moisture ingress and crushing.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; candy production is highly automated, so costs drop significantly at higher volumes. Request a factory audit or a video inspection of the production line to ensure hygiene standards. Negotiate for OEM/Private Labeling services, as custom branding adds significant value in the retail confectionery market.

Food products often face quarantine inspections. Ensure your supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch and a Health Certificate issued by the exporting country's authorities. Verify if your country imposes Sugar Taxes or specific Import Licenses for food items to avoid unexpected costs or customs seizures.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For large orders, consider hiring a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the candy matches the approved samples in terms of taste, color, and packaging.
