Velour robe manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize fabric weight (GSM) and fiber composition. For a premium feel, look for a weight between 280-400 GSM. Ensure the blend is either 100% cotton for maximum breathability and absorbency, or a cotton-polyester blend (typically 80/20) to enhance durability and reduce wrinkling. Verify that the fabric has undergone shearing processes to achieve the characteristic soft, velvet-like nap on the exterior while maintaining a looped terry interior for moisture absorption.

To ensure consumer safety and market access, products must meet OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which guarantees the absence of harmful substances. For the US market, compliance with CFR Part 1610 (Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles) is mandatory. If targeting eco-conscious segments, look for GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certifications to validate environmental claims.

Focus on the stitching density and seam reinforcement. High-quality robes should feature double-stitched hems and reinforced pockets to prevent tearing. Check for piping details which add structural integrity. Additionally, request colorfastness test reports (ISO 105-C06) to ensure the velour does not bleed or fade after multiple industrial or home washes, especially for dark colors like navy or burgundy.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com generally offer OEM/ODM services including custom embroidery (logo placement), private labeling, and bespoke sizing charts. You can also request specific design elements such as shawl collars, hoods, or kimono styles. For luxury hospitality clients, consider adding customized waist belt lengths and internal ties for a more secure fit.

Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) before authorizing mass production. Utilize third-party inspection services (such as SGS or Intertek) to conduct a During Production Check (DUPRO) or a Final Random Inspection (FRI). Ensure the inspection covers needle detection to guarantee no broken needles remain in the plush fabric, which is a common safety hazard in textile manufacturing.

Leverage tiered pricing models; for instance, increasing an order from 500 to 1,000 units can often reduce the unit cost by 10-15%. If you are a startup, negotiate a lower MOQ for the first trial order by agreeing to use stock fabric colors instead of custom-dyed pantones. Always clarify if the quoted price is FOB (Free On Board) to avoid surprises in local logistics costs.

Velour robes are bulky and can incur high shipping costs due to volumetric weight. Instruct your supplier to use vacuum packaging to reduce the volume by up to 50%, significantly lowering sea freight costs. Ensure the outer cartons are 5-layer corrugated fiberboard and wrapped in a waterproof polybag to protect the fabric from moisture and mold during long-distance ocean transit.

Conduct all transactions through secured payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Use Escrow-based payment terms where the funds are only released to the supplier after you confirm receipt and inspection of the goods. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts and always verify the supplier's business license and audited profile on the platform.
