Used plc manufacturers

When purchasing used PLCs, you must verify the firmware version and hardware revision to ensure they are compatible with your existing programming software (e.g., TIA Portal, RSLogix). Check the I/O configuration (Digital vs. Analog) and communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, or Modbus). It is vital to confirm the CPU processing speed and memory capacity have not been degraded and meet your current logic requirements.

Request a power-on test video showing the status LEDs; the 'Run' light should be green and the 'Fault' light off. Ask the supplier for a diagnostic buffer report if the unit is high-end. Ensure the internal backup battery is new or recently replaced to prevent program loss. Inspect the terminal blocks for signs of overheating, corrosion, or stripped screws, which indicate heavy industrial wear.

Even for used equipment, products should ideally retain their original CE, UL, or CSA markings. Ensure the units comply with RoHS standards regarding hazardous substances. For specific industries, verify if the PLC meets IEC 61131-3 standards for programming languages to ensure your engineers can maintain the system without proprietary hurdles.

Used PLCs typically offer a 40-70% cost saving compared to new units, making them highly feasible for legacy system maintenance or prototype development. However, you must factor in the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including potential downtime risks. Sourcing from reputable suppliers on Made-in-China.com who offer testing warranties can mitigate these economic risks.

Always insist on a 30 to 90-day functional warranty. Use Secure Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after the goods pass initial inspection. Request a third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to verify the serial numbers match the invoice and the units are operational.

Negotiate based on batch volume and cosmetic condition. If buying 'pulls' (units removed from working machines), ask for a bulk discount of 15-20%. Clarify the packaging standards; PLCs are sensitive to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), so insist on anti-static bagging and heavy-duty cushioning to prevent transit damage.

Check your local customs regulations regarding 'Used Electronic Waste' to ensure the PLCs are classified as 'Refurbished Equipment' rather than scrap. For shipping, Air Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS) is recommended for high-value PLCs to minimize handling and exposure to humidity. Ensure the HS Code (typically 853710) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have a proven track record in industrial automation. Avoid direct wire transfers to unknown accounts; instead, use escrow-based trade terms. Verify the supplier's business license and physical warehouse location to ensure they are a legitimate stockist and not a middleman with no quality control.
