Tarot printing manufacturers

For professional Tarot decks, the standard material is 300gsm to 350gsm art paper or specialized black-core paper (Linen finish) which prevents transparency under light. High-end decks often utilize PVC or eco-friendly plastic for waterproof durability. Ensure the supplier offers FSC-certified paper to meet sustainability standards for international markets.

To ensure a smooth 'shuffle' and premium feel, buyers should specify UV varnishing or matte/glossy lamination. For high-value decks, gold or silver foil stamping on the edges (gilded edges) and holographic foiling on card faces are popular. Anti-scratch matte lamination is highly recommended to maintain the aesthetic longevity of the artwork.

Buyers must request a G7 or ISO 12647-2 certified printing process. Always demand a physical pre-production sample rather than relying solely on digital proofs. Specify the use of Pantone Matching System (PMS) for brand-critical colors to avoid the color shifts common in standard CMYK four-color printing.

The most durable and marketable option is the two-piece rigid 'lid and base' box, which provides superior protection. For lower price points, tuck boxes with custom seals are standard. Ensure the box dimensions include a 3-5mm buffer to accommodate a printed guidebook or booklet without damaging the card edges.

Before sharing high-resolution source files (AI or PSD), ensure the supplier signs a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). It is safer to source from Verified Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have a proven track record of handling OEM/ODM projects for international brands, as they are more likely to respect copyright boundaries.

Paper is highly sensitive to humidity and compression. Insist that the supplier uses heavy-duty corrugated outer cartons with moisture-proof plastic inner lining (polybags). For sea freight, ensure the pallets are shrink-wrapped to prevent water damage during transit through different climate zones.

If the deck is marketed as a gift or toy, it must comply with EN71 (Europe) or ASTM F963 (USA) standards regarding non-toxic inks and lead content. Always verify that the varnish and lamination chemicals are REACH or CPSIA compliant to avoid customs seizures or consumer safety lawsuits.

Utilize a 30/70 payment structure (30% deposit, 70% balance after inspection). Hire a third-party inspection service to conduct a 'Random Sampling Inspection' before the final payment is released. Focus on checking for centered cutting (registration), as even a 1mm shift can ruin the symmetry of Tarot card backs.
