Buyers should prioritize multi-zone detection capabilities (typically 6, 18, or 33 zones) to accurately pinpoint the location of metallic objects. Ensure the device offers adjustable sensitivity levels (0-99 or higher) to distinguish between personal items like keys and actual threats. Additionally, look for anti-interference technology to prevent false alarms caused by nearby X-ray machines or elevators, and verify the throughput capacity (recommended 40-60 persons per minute) to avoid bottlenecks in high-traffic areas.

For global trade, the product must hold CE and FCC certifications to ensure electromagnetic compatibility and safety. It is critical to verify compliance with NIJ Standard 0601.02 (National Institute of Justice) for detection levels. Furthermore, ensure the device is harmless to heart pacemakers, pregnant women, and magnetic media (floppy disks, tapes) by requesting valid safety test reports from the manufacturer.

For outdoor events, you must select models with an IP65 or higher waterproof rating and durable weather-resistant materials. For high-security facilities like prisons or airports, a 33-zone detector with integrated thermal imaging for temperature screening is recommended. In contrast, for commercial buildings or schools, a standard 6-zone model with a focus on aesthetic integration and ease of assembly is often sufficient.

Choose units with self-diagnostic functions that alert operators to internal faults immediately. The frame should be constructed from high-density fireproof materials or heavy-duty laminates to withstand physical impact. Ensure the supplier provides modular spare parts (such as mainboards and sensor bars) to allow for quick on-site repairs without needing to replace the entire unit.

The main risks include damage during transit due to the large, sensitive nature of the panels and customs clearance delays if the required frequency certifications are missing. To mitigate this, always insist on wooden crate packaging and ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin and detailed technical manuals in the destination language to satisfy customs inspectors.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for extended warranties (2-3 years) and the inclusion of essential accessories like remote controls or backup batteries. For bulk orders exceeding 10 units, aim for a 10-15% discount and request OEM branding (logo placement) to be included at no extra cost.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure payment is only released upon confirmation of shipment. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the detection sensitivity and zone accuracy meet your specific requirements before the balance is paid.

Due to the height and weight of the side panels, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical method for bulk orders. However, if the project is urgent, Air Freight is possible but requires 'Non-Magnetic' certification for the sensors. Ensure the Incoterms are clearly defined; FOB (Free On Board) is recommended for buyers who have their own freight forwarders to better control costs and logistics visibility.
