Scooby doo manufacturers

When sourcing Scooby-Doo merchandise, especially for children, you must ensure products meet ASTM F963 (USA) or EN71 (Europe) safety standards. For the US market, a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) is mandatory, proving the item has been tested for lead content, phthalates, and small parts hazards. Always verify that the manufacturer uses non-toxic dyes and flame-retardant materials to comply with international safety regulations.

Scooby-Doo is an IP owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. To avoid legal risks, you must ensure the supplier possesses a valid Letter of Authorization (LOA) or a sub-licensing agreement. Look for official holographic stickers, specific trademark markings (TM & © WBEI), and high-quality embroidery or printing that matches the official character style guide. Unauthorized 'knock-offs' can lead to customs seizures and intellectual property lawsuits.

Focus on fabric GSM (grams per square meter); a higher GSM (e.g., 250-300g) indicates a softer, more durable plush. Ensure the stuffing is 100% PP cotton for better shape retention. For facial features, computerized embroidery is superior to screen printing as it prevents peeling and provides a premium tactile feel. Check that seam strength meets a minimum pull-test of 70N to prevent tearing during play.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com often offer OEM/ODM services. You can request custom hangtags, branded packaging, or unique character poses (e.g., Scooby-Doo in a specific holiday outfit). Ensure the supplier provides pre-production samples for approval. Note that custom designs usually require a higher MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity), typically ranging from 500 to 2,000 pieces depending on the complexity.

The biggest risk in cross-border sourcing of branded goods is Customs Border Protection (CBP) seizure. You must provide your freight forwarder with a copy of the licensing authorization. Ensure the Commercial Invoice and Packing List clearly state the licensed nature of the goods. Sourcing from Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have experience with licensed exports significantly reduces this risk.

Negotiate based on volume tiers; for licensed goods, the royalty fee is often baked into the unit price, so larger volumes (e.g., 5,000+ units) can reduce the per-unit cost by 15-25%. Discuss lead times clearly, as licensed products may require an extra 7-10 days for brand owner artwork approval. Always insist on Trade Assurance or secure payment terms to protect your capital until the goods pass quality inspection.

For lightweight items like plush toys, Sea Freight (LCL - Less than Container Load) is the most economical for bulk orders, though it takes 30-45 days. If you are stocking for a specific movie release or holiday, Air Freight is faster but significantly more expensive. Consider vacuum packaging for plush toys to reduce the volumetric weight, which can save up to 40% on shipping costs.

Always conduct a factory audit or request a third-party inspection (like SGS or Intertek) before final payment. Use the Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Avoid using untraceable wire transfers for initial orders; instead, prioritize platforms that offer buyer protection and dispute resolution.
