Buyers should prioritize High-White Glass (Super Flint Glass) for maximum clarity and a premium aesthetic. Ensure the glass is lead-free and BPA-free to meet international safety standards. For the neck finish, a standard 28/410 or 18/415 thread is common, but you must verify the sealing integrity to prevent leakage of essential oils, which have high volatility.

Surface treatments like electroplating, frosting, and internal color spraying significantly impact the unit price. While color coating enhances brand identity, ensure the supplier uses eco-friendly, oil-resistant paints that won't peel when in contact with fragrance oils. Silk-screen printing is cost-effective for high volumes, whereas hot stamping offers a luxury finish at a higher price point.

For the US market, ensure compliance with California Proposition 65 regarding lead and cadmium content. For the EU, products must adhere to REACH regulations. If you are sourcing the complete set (including reeds and oil), you must obtain MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and IFRA (International Fragrance Association) certification for the liquid components.

The neck diameter is critical; a narrow neck reduces the evaporation rate of the carrier fluid, extending product life, while a wider neck allows for more reeds and a stronger scent throw. Ensure the base thickness is sufficient to provide a low center of gravity, preventing accidental tipping which is a common consumer complaint.

The biggest risk is breakage during transit. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons with individual cell dividers (egg-crate packaging). For bulk orders, palletization with shrink wrap is mandatory to prevent shifting. On Made-in-China.com, you can request a drop test report from the supplier to verify packaging durability.

If you require a unique shape, you will face a Mold Fee (typically $800 - $2,500). Negotiate a mold fee refund policy where the supplier credits the cost back to you once your cumulative order volume reaches a certain threshold (e.g., 50,000 units). Always request a 3D-printed sample before the steel mold is cast to avoid costly design errors.

Utilize Secured Trading Services on professional platforms to ensure your payment is held in escrow until shipping documents are verified. Never pay 100% upfront; the industry standard is a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L). Conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to check for bubbles, scratches, or neck deformities before the final payment.

Glass is heavy and relatively low-value, making Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) the only economically feasible option for bulk orders. To optimize costs, calculate the container utilization rate; sometimes increasing your order slightly to fill a 20GP container can lower the per-unit shipping cost significantly compared to LCL (Less than Container Load) fees.
