Private label cap manufacturers

When sourcing private label caps, focus on fabric quality (e.g., 100% heavy brushed cotton, polyester mesh, or recycled PET) and structural integrity. Ensure the buckram (the stiff fabric behind the front panels) is of high quality to maintain the cap's shape. For branding, evaluate the embroidery density (stitch count) or the quality of heat-transfer patches to ensure the logo does not peel or fray over time.

You must verify that the materials used are free from harmful substances. Request OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 or REACH certifications to ensure chemical safety. For the U.S. market, ensure compliance with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act), especially regarding lead content in metal buckles and phthalates in plastic closures.

A top-tier supplier should provide extensive OEM/ODM services, including custom inner taping (branded sweatbands), woven labels, and various closure types such as snapbacks, brass buckles, or Velcro. They should also support different styles like 6-panel baseball caps, 5-panel campers, or trucker hats to match your brand's aesthetic.

Request samples to perform colorfastness tests (ensuring the dye doesn't bleed under sweat or rain) and shrinkage tests after washing. Check the stitching consistency, ensuring there are at least 8-10 stitches per inch to prevent seams from bursting under tension.

Utilize Made-in-China.com's 'Audited Supplier' reports to verify the factory's existence and production capacity. Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) for physical approval before the mass production begins to avoid discrepancies in color or logo placement.

Caps are high-volume items; you can often secure a 15-25% discount by increasing your order from 500 to 2,000 units. If you are a startup, negotiate a lower MOQ for the initial order by agreeing to use standard fabric colors (stock fabric) while customizing only the embroidery and labels.

Always use Secure Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your funds are held in escrow until shipping is confirmed. Clearly define Incoterms (e.g., FOB or DDP) in the contract to clarify who is responsible for customs clearance and import duties.

For orders under 500 pieces, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is faster but expensive. For larger bulk shipments, Sea Freight (LCL - Less than Container Load) is significantly more economical. Ensure the supplier uses sturdy 5-layer corrugated cartons and inner plastic bags to prevent moisture damage and crushing during long-distance transit.
