Knitted softshell jacket manufacturers

When sourcing knitted softshell jackets, prioritize a three-layer bonded construction: a knitted outer face for aesthetics, a TPU/PU breathable membrane in the middle, and a polar fleece or jersey lining for warmth. Ensure the fabric weight is between 280-350 GSM for optimal balance. Key performance metrics include a waterproof rating of ≥8,000mm and a breathability rating of ≥3,000g/m²/24h. Additionally, verify the use of YKK or SBS brand zippers and reinforced stitching at stress points to ensure garment longevity.

For the European market, ensure the product meets REACH chemical safety standards and carries the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification to guarantee the absence of harmful substances. If the jacket is intended for workwear, it must comply with EN ISO 13688. For the U.S. market, verify compliance with ASTM D1230 for flammability and CPSIA if targeting youth sizes. Always request third-party lab test reports (such as from SGS or ITS) for colorfastness to light and washing.

Conduct a spray test to verify the effectiveness of the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating; water should bead and roll off immediately. Check the bonding strength by attempting to peel the layers apart at the edges; there should be no delamination. Evaluate the stretch recovery of the knitted fabric to ensure it doesn't bag out after wear. Finally, inspect the seam sealing (if applicable) or the precision of the laser-cut pockets and high-frequency welding details which are hallmarks of premium softshell manufacturing.

Most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services, including custom Pantone color matching (usually with a 500-1000 unit MOQ), private labeling, and logo application via embroidery, screen printing, or 3D silicone heat transfers. You can also request functional modifications such as underarm ventilation zippers, adjustable cuffs with Velcro tabs, or detachable hoods to suit specific market needs.

Always utilize Trade Assurance or similar escrow services to protect your payment. Before shipping, hire a third-party inspection agency (like V-Trust or QIMA) to perform a Final Random Inspection (FRI) based on AQL 2.5/4.0 standards. Never settle for 'factory-provided' photos as the sole proof of quality; insist on a pre-production sample (PPS) and a shipping sample for your records.

Approach negotiations by offering a projected annual volume rather than a single order to secure tier-based pricing. If the supplier's MOQ is too high for a trial, suggest using stock-supported fabrics in standard colors (Black, Navy, Grey) which can often reduce the MOQ to 50-100 pieces. Always ask for a breakdown of the FOB price to understand the impact of raw material fluctuations versus labor costs.

For small trial orders or high-value samples, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is best for speed. For bulk production, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. However, for mid-sized shipments to Europe or Central Asia, consider Rail Freight as a faster alternative to sea and a cheaper alternative to air. Ensure your supplier provides a detailed packing list and Commercial Invoice with the correct HS Code (typically 6102.30) to avoid customs delays.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com, as these companies have undergone on-site verification by independent bodies like SGS, Bureau Veritas, or TÜV Rheinland. Check the supplier's Business License, Export License, and their history of participation in international trade fairs like the Canton Fair or ISPO to confirm their industry standing and legitimacy.
