Glycine manufacturers

Glycine is generally categorized into three grades: Food Grade (FCC), Pharma Grade (USP/EP/BP), and Industrial/Tech Grade. For food and supplement applications, ensure a purity level of ≥98.5%. For pharmaceutical use, the purity must typically reach 99.0% to 101.0%. Key technical parameters to monitor include Heavy Metals (Pb ≤10ppm), Loss on Drying (≤0.2%), and Residue on Ignition (≤0.1%). Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch.

Depending on the target market, suppliers must hold specific certifications. For the US market, FDA Registration and GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status are vital. For Europe, REACH registration is required for industrial volumes, and EFSA compliance for food additives. Global food safety standards like ISO 22000, HACCP, Halal, and Kosher are essential for food-grade Glycine to ensure broad market accessibility.

Most commercial Glycine is produced via the Strecker synthesis or the Monochloroacetic Acid (MCA) ammonolysis method. The MCA method is common but requires strict control over residual chloride and ammonium salts. High-quality suppliers utilize advanced crystallization and decolorization technologies to ensure a snow-white appearance and eliminate the 'chemical' odor often found in lower-grade batches.

Glycine is highly versatile. In the Food Industry, it acts as a flavor enhancer and preservative. In Pharmaceuticals, it is used as an excipient or an API for treating metabolic disorders. In Agriculture, it serves as a chelating agent for micronutrients (e.g., Zinc Glycinate). In the Industrial sector, it is a key raw material for Glyphosate herbicide production and electroplating baths.

The main risks include quality inconsistency between samples and bulk orders, and price volatility due to raw material (acetic acid/ammonia) fluctuations. To mitigate this, use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to test the cargo before it leaves the factory. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging (PE-lined bags) to prevent caking during long-term sea freight.

Focus on Volume-Based Pricing; discounts of 5-10% are common when moving from LCL (Less than Container Load) to Full Container Loads (FCL). Negotiate for staggered payment terms (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% against BL copy) rather than 100% upfront. For long-term partnerships, ask for price protection clauses to shield against sudden market spikes.

Glycine is generally classified as non-hazardous for transport, but it must be kept away from strong oxidizers. Ensure the shipping documents include a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Non-Hazardous Chemical Declaration to avoid customs delays. For high-purity grades, request palletized shipping with shrink-wrap to ensure structural integrity during transshipment.

Utilize platforms like Made-in-China.com to identify Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site factory inspections. Check their export history and whether they possess a Production License for Food Additives. A reliable supplier should be able to provide traceability reports from raw material sourcing to the finished product.
