Glass cookware manufacturers

The most critical factor is the type of glass used. You should prioritize High Borosilicate Glass (typically 3.3 expansion coefficient) because it offers superior thermal shock resistance, allowing the cookware to transition from cold to hot environments without shattering. Ensure the glass is lead-free and cadmium-free to meet food safety standards. For stovetop use, verify if the product is flame-proof or specifically designed for induction cooktops (which requires a bonded stainless steel base).

For the US market, products must comply with FDA 21 CFR 177.1640 and California Proposition 65. For the EU, adherence to LFGB (Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch) and Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 is mandatory. Additionally, look for ISO 7086-1 standards which specify the limits for the release of lead and cadmium from glass hollowware intended for use in contact with food.

Request a Thermal Shock Test report, where the glass is heated to 120°C-150°C and then immediately plunged into cold water. Furthermore, check for tempering quality; if the glass breaks, it should crumble into small granular chunks rather than jagged shards. Inspect the rim thickness and handle attachment points, as these are common failure zones under mechanical stress.

Look for multi-functional designs such as 'oven-to-table' capabilities and stackable sets to optimize shipping volume and retail shelf space. Features like steam-vented lids, ergonomic stay-cool handles, and non-porous surfaces that do not absorb food odors or stains are high-value selling points for end consumers.

The biggest risk is breakage during transit. You must mandate 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual EPE foam or bubble wrap packaging for each unit. Request a ISTA 3A Drop Test from the supplier to ensure the packaging can withstand courier handling. For large orders, ensure the use of pallets with plastic wrap to prevent shifting inside the container.

Start by selecting Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com to ensure factory legitimacy. Negotiate a Quality Assurance Agreement that defines the 'Acceptable Quality Limit' (AQL 2.5/4.0). Insist on a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party (like SGS or Intertek) and link the final 70% payment to the issuance of a passed inspection report.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by the platform to protect your funds until shipping documents are verified. Avoid transferring money to private bank accounts; ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the business license. For first-time orders, consider a smaller trial MOQ to test the supplier's lead time and communication efficiency.

Check the HS Code (typically 7013.42) for specific import duties in your country. Be aware of anti-dumping duties that some regions (like the EU or USA) may impose on specific glassware categories from certain origins. Always request a Certificate of Origin (CO) from your supplier to leverage any existing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that could reduce your customs costs.
