Fine jewelry manufacturers

When sourcing fine jewelry, you must verify the purity of precious metals and the authenticity of gemstones. For gold, ensure it meets international fineness standards such as 14K (58.5%) or 18K (75%), and look for hallmarking as proof of purity. For silver, 925 Sterling Silver is the industry benchmark. If the jewelry includes diamonds, prioritize suppliers providing GIA, IGI, or HRD certifications to guarantee the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight).

Compliance is critical to avoid customs seizures. For the US market, products must comply with the CPSIA regarding lead and cadmium content. For the EU, adherence to REACH regulations is mandatory, specifically limiting nickel release to prevent allergic reactions. Always request third-party lab test reports (such as from SGS or TUV) to confirm that the alloys used are hypoallergenic and lead-free.

High-quality fine jewelry should utilize lost-wax casting for intricate designs and hand-setting for stones rather than simple gluing. Check for vacuum plating or PVD coating if the item is gold-plated, as this ensures a thickness of at least 2.5 microns (vermeil) for long-lasting wear. Inspect the polishing quality; a mirror-like finish with no visible pits or scratches is a hallmark of professional craftsmanship.

Yes, most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services. You should look for suppliers who provide CAD design services and 3D printing prototypes for approval before mass production. Ensure the supplier can perform laser engraving for your brand logo and offers customized high-end packaging to enhance the unboxing experience for your end customers.

The biggest risks include material substitution (e.g., synthetic stones passed as natural) and logistical theft. To mitigate these, use Trade Assurance services and insist on independent appraisals. For high-value shipments, always use secured armored transport services or specialized couriers like FedEx/UPS with full-value insurance.

Negotiations should focus on the labor cost (making charge) rather than the raw material price, as gold and silver prices are tied to the global spot market. Ask for a breakdown of costs including metal weight, stone carats, and labor. For bulk orders, negotiate for lower MOQs on new designs in exchange for a commitment to a long-term partnership.

Always conduct transactions through secure payment gateways that offer buyer protection. For shipping, use discreet packaging that does not indicate the high-value contents on the outer label to prevent pilferage. Ensure the Harmonized System (HS) codes (e.g., 7113 for jewelry) are correctly declared to avoid customs delays or incorrect duty assessments.
