Enamelwares tableware manufacturers

When evaluating enamelware, the base metal thickness is critical; look for 0.6mm to 1.2mm carbon steel to ensure durability and prevent warping. The coating should be high-grade vitreous enamel applied in multiple layers (ground coat plus cover coat). Ensure the surface is smooth, non-porous, and free of pinholes or black spots, which can lead to premature rusting of the underlying metal.

As food-contact materials, enamelware must meet strict safety standards. For the US market, compliance with FDA 21 CFR 175.300 and California Proposition 65 (regarding lead and cadmium leaching) is essential. For the EU, products must adhere to Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and LFGB (Germany). Always request Migration Test Reports from accredited third-party labs like SGS or TUV to verify that heavy metal release levels are within legal limits.

Enamelware is prized for being lightweight, shatterproof, and heat-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor dining, camping, and high-traffic bistros. It is dishwasher safe and oven safe up to 270°C. However, buyers must note that it is not microwave safe due to the metal core. Additionally, while the coating is hard, it can chip upon heavy impact, so 'rolled edges' are often preferred for increased rim durability.

Suppliers typically offer decal printing or silk-screen printing for logos and patterns. For long-lasting branding, high-temperature floral paper (decals) fired at 800°C is recommended as it becomes part of the enamel layer and won't fade. Buyers should confirm the Pantone color matching capabilities and the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) for custom molds if unique shapes are required.

Enamel is prone to chipping if boxes are dropped. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual bubble wrap or egg-crate dividers. For bulk shipments, palletization with shrink wrap is highly recommended to minimize manual handling. You should also include a drop test requirement in your Quality Assurance agreement.

Start by verifying the supplier's Audited Supplier status on the platform. Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 1,000 vs. 5,000 units) and request a pre-production sample to be sent via air courier before the mass production deposit is paid. This ensures the color and finish meet your brand standards.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by the platform to protect your payment. Use a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment against the Bill of Lading (B/L) structure. For first-time orders, hiring a third-party inspector to conduct a During Production (DUPRO) or Final Random Inspection (FRI) at the factory in China is the most effective way to ensure quality before the goods leave the country.

Check the HS Code (typically 7323.94) for specific import duties in your country. For large volumes, Sea Freight (FCL or LCL) is the most economical, but factor in 4-6 weeks lead time. If you are testing a new market, Air Freight or Rail Freight (for Eurasia) offers faster turnaround. Always clarify the Incoterms (e.g., FOB Ningbo or CIF Los Angeles) to understand exactly where your liability for freight and insurance begins.
