Diced tomato manufacturers

When sourcing diced tomatoes, buyers must prioritize Brix level (typically 5-7%), pH value (4.0-4.4), and Bostwick consistency. The dice integrity is crucial; look for products with a low percentage of skin and seeds and a firm texture that holds up during secondary processing. Ensure the color (Lycopene content) meets the USDA Grade A or equivalent international standards for a bright, uniform red hue.

Suppliers must hold HACCP and ISO 22000 certifications at a minimum. For entry into the US market, FDA registration and FSMA compliance are required. For European markets, BRC (British Retail Consortium) or IFS (International Featured Standard) certifications are highly preferred. Additionally, verify if the supplier can provide Phytosanitary Certificates and Non-GMO statements to meet specific regional import regulations.

Diced tomatoes are commonly available in Aseptic Bags (220kg drums) for industrial use or Canned (400g to 3kg) for foodservice. Aseptic packaging offers a shelf life of 18-24 months without refrigeration, significantly reducing storage costs. For retail-ready products, ensure the cans have an internal BPA-free coating to prevent corrosion from the tomato's acidity and maintain flavor integrity.

Request the Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) content specifications; this firming agent is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of the dice during retort or high-temperature pasteurization. A concentration of less than 0.045% is standard. Also, confirm the vacuum level in canned goods to prevent oxidation and ensure a long-term stable shelf life.

Always request a Third-Party Lab Test Report (e.g., SGS, Intertek, or TUV) from the current crop year. The report should specifically cover pesticide screening (MRL compliance) and heavy metal limits (Lead, Cadmium, Tin). On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who provide transparent traceability from the farm to the processing plant.

Tomato prices fluctuate based on harvest seasons (typically July-September). To secure the best rates, consider Annual Contract Volume (ACV) agreements rather than spot buying. Negotiate based on Incoterms 2020, where FOB (Free On Board) is often more cost-effective for buyers with their own freight forwarders, allowing better control over ocean freight costs and container scheduling.

Define a clear Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL). Specify that claims for swollen cans, leakage, or sensory deviations (off-odors/colors) must be filed within 30-60 days of arrival at the destination port. Ensure the contract stipulates that the supplier is responsible for replacement or refund if the product fails to pass local customs food safety inspections.

Utilize Secure Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For large bulk orders, a Letter of Credit (L/C at sight) is the safest financial instrument, as it conditions payment on the presentation of strictly compliant shipping and quality documents.
