Butter biscuit manufacturers

The primary indicator is the butter content percentage, which should ideally be above 15-20% for a premium profile. Buyers should verify the source of the fat (pure dairy butter vs. vegetable margarine) as this affects both flavor and shelf life. Additionally, check for texture consistency—the biscuit should have a uniform golden-brown color and a crisp, 'short' snap without being overly crumbly.

Suppliers must hold HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and ISO 22000 certifications to ensure food safety management. For specific markets, BRC (British Retail Consortium) or IFS (International Featured Standard) are highly preferred. If targeting specific demographics, ensure the products are Halal or Kosher certified. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify microbiological safety.

Butter biscuits are high in fat and prone to oxidative rancidity and breakage. Procurement should prioritize moisture-proof and light-shielding packaging, such as aluminum foil laminates or tinplate boxes. For bulk shipping, corrugated master cartons with internal cushioning (bubble wrap or plastic trays) are essential to maintain a breakage rate of less than 3% during cross-border transit.

The contract should clearly define the moisture content (typically <5%) to ensure crispness, shelf life (usually 12-18 months), and ingredient transparency. Specify the absence of trans-fats and compliance with labeling regulations (e.g., FDA or EU 1169/2011), including allergen warnings for wheat, milk, and eggs.

Negotiate a 'Production Date Guarantee' in the purchase agreement, ensuring that the goods have at least 80% of their total shelf life remaining upon arrival at the port. Request photos of the production date stamps during the pre-shipment inspection phase.

Utilize Made-in-China.com's 'Audited Supplier' reports. These reports provide third-party verification of the factory's production capacity, machinery, and quality control systems. For large orders, consider hiring a third-party inspector like SGS or Intertek to perform an on-site factory audit.

Ensure all labels are pre-translated and compliant with the destination country's laws before the goods leave the factory. Work with a freight forwarder experienced in food-grade logistics who understands phytosanitary requirements and can manage the Customs Entry process efficiently to avoid demurrage charges.

Use Escrow services or Letter of Credit (L/C) for large transactions. For initial smaller orders, a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment against the Bill of Lading (B/L) copy is standard. Avoid 100% upfront payments to unknown suppliers to protect against transaction fraud.
