When sourcing high-end streetwear, prioritize heavyweight cotton (at least 240-300 GSM) for t-shirts and 400+ GSM brushback fleece for hoodies to ensure the 'premium' feel associated with the brand. Pay close attention to stitching density and alignment, especially on complex designs like the 'Shark' hoodie zipper. Ensure the supplier uses high-quality screen printing or embroidery that resists cracking and fading after multiple washes. Requesting a pre-production sample is mandatory to verify the fabric hand-feel and color accuracy.

All garments must comply with the destination country's regulations, such as FTC labeling requirements in the US (fiber content, country of origin, and RN number) or REACH regulations in the EU regarding chemical dyes. Ensure the products are Azo-free and meet flammability standards (e.g., 16 CFR Part 1610). For children's streetwear, verify compliance with CPSIA lead and phthalate limits. Always ask for OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification to guarantee the safety of the textiles.

Look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) services. You should provide detailed Tech Packs including size charts, Pantone color codes, and vector files for graphics. Professional suppliers can offer custom woven labels, silicone hangtags, and branded polybags to enhance brand identity. Ensure the supplier has experience with sublimation or 3D puff printing if your designs require specialized textures.

Avoid importing products that feature trademarked logos, copyrighted patterns (like the specific Bape Camo), or brand names without a valid authorization letter from the trademark holder. Customs authorities in the US and Europe are highly vigilant; counterfeit goods are subject to seizure and heavy fines. Focus on sourcing 'white-label' streetwear or creating original designs that use similar silhouettes but unique branding to ensure a legal and sustainable business model.

Negotiate based on Total Landed Cost, not just the unit price. Discuss tiered pricing where the unit cost drops as your volume increases (e.g., 500, 1000, 5000 units). Request favorable payment terms such as a 30% deposit and 70% balance after a successful third-party pre-shipment inspection. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize 'Audited Suppliers' to ensure you are dealing with legitimate factories rather than middleman trading companies.

For initial launches or small batches, Air Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS) is best for speed (3-7 days), though it is more expensive. For bulk inventory, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is significantly more cost-effective but requires a 25-40 day lead time. Consider DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you want the supplier to handle all customs clearance and import duties, reducing the administrative burden on your end.

Always conduct transactions through secure payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts. Utilize Escrow services where funds are only released to the supplier once you confirm receipt and quality of the goods. Additionally, hiring a third-party inspection firm (like SGS or Intertek) to visit the factory before the final payment is the most effective way to prevent fraud and quality disputes.
