Wholesale wicker picnic baskets manufacturers

You should prioritize natural willow (salix) or rattan that has been steam-treated to prevent brittleness and insect infestation. Ensure the wicker is full-peeled for a smooth finish to avoid snagging fabrics. For the lining, look for high-density polyester-cotton blends or linen with a weight of at least 180 GSM to ensure durability and easy cleaning.

Key features include insulated thermal compartments (using PEVA or aluminum foil) to maintain food temperature, reinforced PU leather or genuine leather straps for secure closure, and integrated tool slots for cutlery. For wholesale orders, ensure the handle attachment points are reinforced with internal wire frames to support a load capacity of at least 5-8kg.

Since these products contact food, they must meet FDA (US) or LFGB (Germany/EU) food-grade safety standards for the lining and cutlery. Additionally, the wicker must undergo fumigation treatment, and a Phytosanitary Certificate is required for customs clearance to prove the wood/willow is free from pests. Ensure all dyes used in the fabric are AZO-free.

Check for uniformity in the weave; there should be no sharp protruding ends or large gaps. Perform a load-bearing test by filling the basket to its maximum capacity and carrying it by the handle for 10 minutes to check for deformation. Verify that the hinges and buckles are rust-resistant and that the stitching on the inner lining is double-locked.

The biggest risk is moisture and mold during sea transit. You must require the supplier to include silica gel desiccant packets in every basket and use moisture-proof PE bags for individual packaging. Another risk is customs seizure due to lack of proper fumigation documentation, so always verify the validity of the supplier's export licenses.

Focus on tiered pricing; typically, a 500-unit order can reduce the unit cost by 15-20% compared to a 50-unit sample order. Negotiate for OEM customization (like logo embossing on leather tags) to be included in the price for orders exceeding 300 units. Always request a breakdown of the Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure they aren't substituting natural wicker with cheaper plastic composites.

Wicker baskets are 'volumetric' goods, meaning they take up a lot of space relative to weight. To save costs, use nested packaging (smaller baskets inside larger ones) to reduce the total CBM (Cubic Meters). For large wholesale orders, LCL (Less than Container Load) or FCL (Full Container Load) sea freight is recommended over air freight to maintain your profit margins.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after you confirm receipt of goods. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the quality matches the approved sample before the final balance is paid.
