Pigment red 122 manufacturers

Pigment Red 122 is a high-performance Quinacridone pigment. You must verify the color strength (100% ± 5%), oil absorption (40-55g/100g), and average particle size (typically <200nm for high-end inks). For plastic applications, ensure the heat resistance is at least 280°C to prevent color degradation during injection molding.

Due to its excellent lightfastness and weather resistance, it is ideal for automotive coatings, high-end industrial paints, and outdoor advertising inks. It is also widely used in synthetic fibers (spin dyeing) and masterbatches for plastics like PE, PP, and PVC where a bluish-red or magenta shade is required.

For the EU market, the pigment must be REACH compliant. If used in food packaging or toys, it must adhere to FDA 21 CFR or EN71-3 standards regarding heavy metal content and aromatic amine migration. Always request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch.

Request a Hegman gauge test report to check the fineness of dispersion. Poorly dispersed pigments lead to 'specks' and reduced gloss. For liquid inks, ask for the viscosity stability data; a high-quality Pigment Red 122 should not significantly increase the viscosity of the resin system over time.

The primary risk is batch-to-batch inconsistency (color shade shift). To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on a pre-shipment sample that matches the bulk cargo. Another risk is adulteration, where suppliers mix PR122 with cheaper pigments; always verify the purity via spectrophotometer testing.

Pigment prices fluctuate based on raw material (intermediate) costs. Negotiate based on annual volume rather than single orders to secure a 'price lock.' For high-performance pigments, the standard MOQ is usually 25kg (one drum), but you can negotiate a paid sample of 1-5kg for initial lab testing.

Pigment Red 122 is generally classified as non-hazardous for transport, but it must be packed in multi-layer paper bags or fiber drums with PE liners to prevent moisture absorption. Ensure the pallets are fumigated (ISPM 15 standard) and the cargo is shrink-wrapped to prevent leakage during sea freight, which could lead to heavy fines at customs.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone third-party verification by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Use Letter of Credit (L/C) or Escrow payment terms for large first-time orders to ensure the funds are only released upon verification of the Bill of Lading and Quality Inspection Report.
