Glow sticks glowstick manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize chemical stability and shelf life, typically ranging from 12 to 24 months for high-quality products. Key specs include duration of glow (standard 8-12 hours), luminous intensity, and leak-proof casing made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). For industrial or safety grades, ensure the outer diameter and length meet specific visibility requirements.

Since glow sticks contain chemical components (hydrogen peroxide and phthalates), they must meet strict safety standards. For the US market, compliance with ASTM F963 (Toy Safety) and CPSIA is essential. For the EU market, products must adhere to EN71 (Safety of Toys) and REACH regulations to ensure no hazardous substances are present. Always request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) from the supplier.

Look for suppliers with ISO 9001 certification and those who provide third-party lab test reports (e.g., SGS or Intertek). A reliable supplier should offer batch consistency, meaning the color and brightness do not vary significantly between units. It is highly recommended to source from verified manufacturers on Made-in-China.com who have a proven track record in chemical-based novelty exports.

Selection depends on the end-use: Event & Party Grade sticks focus on vibrant colors and low cost; Safety & Emergency Grade sticks require high-intensity output (30-minute 'high-intensity' versions) and hooks for attachment; Military/Tactical Grade sticks must be non-flammable, non-sparking, and often require infrared (IR) capabilities for specialized operations.

Glow sticks are classified as liquid chemicals, which can lead to complications during air freight. While they are generally considered non-hazardous, some airlines require a DGM (Dangerous Goods Management) report. To minimize costs and risks, sea freight is the preferred method for bulk orders, provided the goods are stored in a cool, dry environment to prevent premature activation or degradation.

Glow sticks are high-volume, low-margin items. MOQs typically start at 5,000 to 10,000 units for custom packaging. To get the best price, negotiate based on annual volume rather than a single order. Request tiered pricing (e.g., 10k, 50k, 100k units) and ensure the quote includes FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your shipping costs.

Always use secure payment methods and consider using the trade assurance services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your deposit. Never transfer full payment upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm. Conduct a pre-shipment inspection to verify the activation rate and packaging integrity.

Glow sticks are sensitive to pressure. Ensure the supplier uses reinforced double-wall corrugated cartons and internal padding. For large shipments, palletization is mandatory to prevent crushing, which could cause the internal glass ampoule to break, leading to leaks or premature activation of the entire batch.
